Havell adjusted the height of the image to fit a standard size copper
plate. He did this by
significantly shortening the stem to the upper foliage. This resulted in the print lacking the
carefully constructed and flowing composition of the original
watercolour, especially where the dead leaf comes into contact with the bird.
As a result, we offer the print with the choice of either (a) exactly as the
published print or, (b) as the published print with the offending leaf removed
or (c) reworked to reflect the
composition of the original watercolour.
All three images are printed with the bird exactly the same size so the
watercolour option is slightly larger.
