GUGUPUGUACU BRASIL.  - THE HIND FISH
Now: RED HIND - Epinephelus guttatus (was: E. maculosus)
SALTATRIX - THE SKIP JACK

Now: THE BLUEFISH
- Pomotomus saltatrix

Catesby's text describes the Hind as having bright green flanks and the Skip Jack as being green on its back when alive, but quickly fading on death. It is probable that the plates were originally coloured with a weak vegetable-based green ink that has now decomposed, as no surviving print displays the described colours. This restoration is faithful to Catesby's written description.

The Georg Knorr, Germany edition comprised only the coloured plates - no text was included. The colouring was more detailed and, like the scripts, more carefully executed than in either of the earlier English editions.
