THE PUDDING WIFE
Now: PUDDINGWIFE WRASSE - Halichoeres radiatus
CAROLINA WHITING

Now also: SOUTHERN KINGFISH, SOUTHERN KINGCROAKER and  KING WHITING.

The Puddingwife Wrasse is a highly variable species, with dramatic changes of appearance depending upon maturity and season. The colours shown here are from Catesby's written description. In the original source print the yellow on the fins had oxidised to a deep russet brown and the blue details were all decomposed to a dark malachite green.

There are five species of "Carolina Whiting", this image appears to include elements from several of these.
